Scope:

Design, Engineering, Supply & Commissioning of PLC / SCADA Based Control System for Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant

Background

Nowadays, Reverse Osmosis Plants play a vital role in Water treatment technology. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water treatment process that uses pressure to force water molecules through a semipermeable membrane to remove contaminants from water. During this process, the contaminants are filtered out and flushed away, leaving clean and delicious drinking water. The new SWRO Plant with a capacity of 1500 M 3 per day has different processes and the customer wanted to have a PLC & SCADA based control system to automate the entire operation of the plant.

System Description:

The raw water pumped from bore wells will be stored in Raw Water Storage Tanks and maintaining a level for proper servicing of the plant. Raw water from these tanks will be pumped through the MMF filters by Filter Feed pump and will be stored in an Intermediate tank. The filtered water from this tank will be passed through 3 skids of RO Pass 1 using 3 High Pressure Pumps and will be stored in RO Pass 1 Storage tank. Realtime values of critical quality parameters like TDS and PH etc of water at this tank are analysed using quality analytical instruments. If the quality parameters are within the limit, an RO feed pump will operate and will transfer the water to Final Storage Tank through the bypass valve, else it will be further passed to RO Pass 2 using High Pressure pump and will be transferred to the Final Storage Tank.

The PLC & SCADA based Control System takes care of the Automatic operation and Monitoring of the entire plant. The system comprises of M340 PLC from Schneider Electric, and InTouch SCADA from AVEVA. The entire system has around 350 IOs which are incorporated in 2 Remote IO Racks and a main PLC Rack. The PLC and Other auxiliary devices are housed in a Modular Enclosure system from Rittal.
