Lube Oil Clay-less Finishing Process Automation | TAGAT | SAUDI ARABIA

End User:

Tagat Al-Sharq Saudi Factory

Scope:

Design, supply, installation and commissioning of instruments & Remote IO panels for automation of lube oil clay less finishing process at Tagat Al-Sharq Al Saudi Factory

Background:

Tagat Al-Sharq Al Saudi Factory is a limited liability company that was established in 2008. It is a specialized company for the production of base oil with various grades like SN 500, SN 300, SN 150 based on feedstock which is waste lubricating oil or other suitable waste oils. The conventional system for lube oil recycling was using clay which led to environmental pollution. Hence, customer had a requirement for an environmental friendly process for refining the lube oil. The new plant was designed by a European consultant, and CONSYST was the Control system & Instrumentation contractor for the entire project.

System Description:

CONSYST offered solution for the automation of two sections of the plant comprising reactors and evaporation sections. The instruments and equipment under these sections are specially rated for explosion proof environment.

System Architecture

The area uses the following instruments of reputed makes for the specific application in the above sections

  • Vega make level transmitters and vibrating level switch.
  • General Instruments make level, pressure and temperature Gauges.
  • Fuji Electric make pressure transmitter and differential pressure type flow transmitter.
  • Samson make pressure reducing valve.
  • Burkert make ball valve.
  • Leser and Motherwell make pressure safety valve.
  • Danfoss make pressure switch.
  • Toshniwal make oval wheel meter.

ABB AC500 PLC based control system with I/O modules was employed for system formulation in the reactor, evaporation and MCC sides. The PLC fetches data from the reactor section, evaporator section and from the MCC panel through RIO modules and it will be communicated to the central SCADA system for monitoring and control purposes. These stations are connected to the central control room through an Optical Fibre Communication Network. There is a heater PLC, which is also connected to the central station through the optical network.

Result

Successful execution of the above solution by our team helped our customer to enjoy the advantage of an environmentally friendly and fully automated lube oil clay-less finishing process.
